About Shawn & Carol
Shawn and Carol have been married for 34 yrs. They have 4 grown children and five grandchildren with two on the way.
In 2009, after 27 yrs of marriage, Shawn & Carol found their marriage in a shambles and on the verge of divorce. Through the healing power of Christ, and a strong sense of determination, they were able to save their marriage. Their marriage healed in ways they had not thought possible and through it all, their desire has been to help families become even stronger.
Today their relationship as a couple is closer and richer than ever before. They talk, laugh and spend as much time together as possible. They can both now say they are “best friends” They know through their own experience that with the right tools, and the Savior’s healing power people can heal and can create healthy relationships and marriages. Through speaking, retreats and outdoor experiences their goal is to share their story, and bring more people to the resources available to help them heal and find peace, even during turbulent times.
Carol studied small business management, psychology and sociology in college. She has impacted many lives for good as an event coordinator and instructor, facilitating Suicide Prevention Groups, Women’s Groups, and Retreats. Carol has a wealth of experience and training as an empowering mentor, and she’s a dynamic speaker and inspirational writer. She is also actively involved in church and community service. Carol is the President and CEO of SOaR, a foundation in development that is dedicated to helping people rebuild their lives after trauma.
Shawn spent many years as a guide and coordinator of outdoor recreation trips and loves to help people enjoy nature in a meaningful way. He studied liberal arts in college, with an emphasis on secondary education and commercial recreation management. He has spoken on radio shows and to large groups about having a Near Death Experience and how it has changed his life, and he appreciates being able to share this glimpse of heaven.
Carol and Shawn have been have been traveling speaking for several years about overcoming pornography and saving their marriage, and their story was featured in an award-winning documentary series on Utah Public Radio. They have found a new level of closeness while working together and organizing seminars. As a couple they are a beacon of light and faith to others, sharing their testimony of hope and spiritual transformations.

He has conducted research and published articles on marriage, family policy, family life education, fathering, grief and bereavement, and other family-related topics. He speaks frequently on healthy family living, writes regularly on family topics for public audiences, and develops educational materials to strengthen family relationships.
Sean and his wife, Kristen, have been married for 26 years and are the parents of eight children. They enjoy spending time together, reading, travel, and church service, as well as cooking a lot of family meals.
