Last night we were inspired by Elder David A. Bednar, Elder Gary E. Stevenson, and Elder Dale G. Renlund of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints as they taught us about family centered, church supported temple and family history plans.

What is a ‘temple and family history plan?’ you ask? Great question. It is a simple plan that each ward will have to help families to do temple and family history work.

It is my belief to follow that pattern. Each family should have its own temple and family history plan. Keep it very simple.

“What is it that you and your family will commit to do to take you, your family (on both sides of the veil) to the temple to participate in the priesthood ordinances.

It can be as simple as
“We will take the extra hour God has given us on Sunday to
– write in our journals, or
– do indexing, or
– use ‘Family Search’ to complete our 4 generations, or
– one of my favorites, use ‘Ordinance Ready’ in family search to find ancestors who have ordinances that are ready to be printed and work done, or
– have each member upload a selfie with their testimony into the ‘Memories’ section of ‘Family Search’, or
– schedule a time when all family members of temple age (you can be 11 now) to be at the temple and do this work. or
– …

Simple! Huh! Nothing elaborate, nothing difficult, just something to do.

The blessings that will come to us as we follow this very simple instructions are eternal.
